New Work Permits in Greece: The Impending Arrival of TalentVisa and TechVisa
To enhance its position in the international arena and bolster the technology and innovation sector, Greece is gearing up to introduce two new work permits: TalentVisa and TechVisa. These new permits aim to attract talented workers and investors from abroad, with the goal of fostering a dynamic and innovative workforce.
The new legislation was recently unveiled by the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, aiming to establish a more flexible and efficient system by issuing work permits that will allow individuals with high expertise to work in Greece.
The Greek Tech Visa represents a streamlined and expedited entry program for workers, founders, and investors of businesses and startups from outside the European Union. Its objective is to attract talented individuals who wish to contribute to the development of the country’s technological ecosystem. The visa will be valid for one year, allowing holders to work, change employers, or even establish their own business in Greece.
Additionally, the TalentVisa is introduced, a new annual work permit targeting graduates from globally recognized universities. This work permit will enable graduates from top universities worldwide to work in Greece for one year, without the need for a prior job offer.
To financially sustain themselves in the country, applicants must demonstrate that they possess sufficient funds at the time of application. Knowledge of the Greek language is not required, but proficiency in English is essential.
With these new programs, Greece aims to strengthen its technology and innovation sector by attracting talented workers and investors from around the world. By creating a more favorable environment for work and entrepreneurship, Greece lays the groundwork for a more dynamic and innovative economy.
