New Law Published to Strengthen Legal Representation and Expedite Justice
A new law aimed at relieving courts from procedures that can be handled by lawyers was recently published in the Government Gazette. Law 5095/2024 introduces new regulations aimed at the immediate and effective completion of legal actions, with the goal of expediting the administration of justice.
One of the main aspects of the law is the transfer of material from the courts to lawyers. This will allow lawyers to issue inheritance certificates, make acceptances and renunciations of inheritances, carry out eliminations, as well as receive sworn affidavits. These actions, which previously required court intervention, can now be carried out by these specialized professionals, aiming to save time and resources.
Additionally, the law provides provisions for the organization of matters concerning the Judicial Buildings Funding Fund and the payment of claims arising from the provision of legal aid services. This will contribute to the smooth functioning of the justice system, while simultaneously offering support to those in need of legal assistance.
